Officers are appealing for witnesses after a man indecently assaulted a teenager near HMP Stafford.
The victim, who is in her late teens, was walking alongCrooked Bridge RoadtowardsCorporation Streetwhen she was approached by a man in a white transit van at around1.50pmon Friday 9 February.
The driver pulled up alongside her and tried to start a conversation. He then parked up and followed the victim along an access road where he indecently assaulted her.
Fortunately, the victim was not injured during the attack but was left shaken.
The offender is described as a white man, aged in his late 20’s to mid 30’s, 5ft 4 to 5ft 5 ins with short straight brown hair. He had blue or green eyes and facial hair along his jaw line. He wore a grey fleece with a logo on the right side and grey trousers which were dirty. His van had mud on the passenger seat and on the floor.
During the incident the man told the victim his name was Mark – but this may have been false. He also stated that he was working in the ‘Friars’ area as an electrician or plumber.
