1995 saw the opening of the much needed Stafford music store, Guitar & Son.

The musical retail outlet was established by Eric Furze. It gave locals in Stafford an alternative place to shop for their musical needs. Soon Guitar and Son became the definitive hub for all musical essentials

Today, the store is a vital ‘stop-off’ for anyone who is someone in Staffordshire’s busy music scene, but it also attracts artists from around the country, many of whom visit when on tour. The likes of Climax Blues Band bassist,Derek Holt; Nektar Virtuoso, Roye  Albrighton and up-and-coming Wolverhampton indie band The Lines.

“We are a general musical instrument store but we also offer a full repair service for guitars and amplifiers.”

Eric has always had a passion for music and promoting talent. The birth of the Stafford based store was a natural progression from his career in the entertainment industry.

“I’ve always been a promoter organising gigs. Bands constantly need strings for their guitars, so I started taking strings along and selling them,”

Today, the bands and solo artists still visit Eric at Guitar & Son, where he continues to organise gigs and promote them locally, nationally and soon… globally.

Eric and his youngest son Jake will be presenting an online  radio show right here at Stafford FM, promoting the talent in Stafford and surrounding areas!

Jake recently left Stafford College with a triple distinction in sound technology, and is about to embark on a degree in Music Technology at Stafford University.
